BRG can provide complete testing and the independent certification required by the S.R.21 – Annex E requirements related to assessing the suitability of hardcore infill as per the S.R.21:2004 (Guidance on the use of I.S. EN 13242:2002 – Aggregates for unbound and hydraulically bound materials for use in civil engineering work and road construction.)
Our geologists utilise a two phase approach to evaluating the Annex E S.R.21 requirements that keeps costs to a minimum.
Phase 1 includes:
- Grading and size analysis
- Assessment of fines content and quality
- Particles crushed, rounded or broken
- Resistance to fragmentation
- Magnesium sulphate soundness
- Water absorption
- Acid soluble sulphate
- Total sulphur content
The results from the Phase 1 analysis determine if a Phase 2 evaluation is necessary.
Phase 2 includes:
- Petrographic examinations of samples using thin sections and X-ray diffraction
BRG can also provide assessment of the source aggregate products through their range of Geological assessment, Geophysical surveying, and Geochemical analysis.
