Site Assessment and Percolation Testing

A full EPA site suitability assessment, including a percolation test, is required to receive planning permission for all new one-off dwellings, residental properties and some extensions to existing houses.

With their geological and environmental expertise and experience working with county council officials, BRG can provide a cost-effective analysis of the hydraulic properties of your soils and find the most appropriate wastewater treatment and percolation system to treat your household wastewater.

Our site assessments are completed to a very high standard and include the following stages;

  • Desk study and initial site walkover to determine site suitability and establish optimum testing location
  • Supervision of digging trial hole and test hole
  • Trial hole evaluation and percolation testing to EPA Standard
  • Advice and discussion about all possible treatment systems
  • Detail for final proposed treatment system
  • Writing up of EPA report, site plan with OS and GSI mapping and photos

BRG personnel are independent of any wastewater treatment system dealer, manufacturer or installer. As such, we are able to advise on the economics and compatibility of any and all options that exist. Our tests are carried out by qualified geoenvironmental scientists who are fully trained in accordance with national and EU regulations, planning requirements and hold a current 'Site Suitability for Wastewater Treatment' certificate.
